In 2006, Alex Robson, a high school student in Georgia, began collecting ideas about freedom on 3 by 5 index cards. Over the next 15 years, thousands of notable people from around the world had sent their freedom cards to the collection.
In 2021, The Freedom Cards’ first book was published and is for sale now on amazon.
Why ask about freedom?
Freedom is one of the most important and open-ended ideas in the world, and participants are able to talk about America, the philosophy of freedom, or simply their experiences with doing what they want to do.
Where did the project start?
The project started in Lawrenceville, GA
How many cards are there in total?
There are a total of 3,000 notable cards from Medal of Honor winners to presidents of the United States. We also collect cards from people all over the world, and those numbers in the thousands. We are working every day to scan and document those cards.
Where are the cards?
The cards are in a safety deposit box, but we hope to one day display them in some capacity.
How Can I help?
Sending us stamps is the easiest way to support our project. They can be sent to the address below. One book of stamps sends ten letters requesting a card!
Can I send in my card or get someone I know to do a card?
We are always looking for new cards from anyone from students to WWII veterans. All cards are cataloged and placed on the website. Be sure to include a description of yourself!
